Will I need to provide snacks for the classroom?

Yes! Each family will be assigned a specific week. We have 22
children in our classroom and there are 32 weeks of school in the
year. Some children will have one snack week throughout the year
and some will have two. Bring your snacks to school by 8:15 AM.
Please bring enough snack food for 22 children (about 1/2 piece
of fruit per child.) Wash all fruits and vegetable at home
but we will cut/prepare them in class. Please bring the items
listed on the calendar or speak to me about substitutions.

Can I bring something special for by child's birthday?

If you would like to send a special treat for your child's
birthday, please feel free to do so. Please schedule the day with
me, so that we can celebrate appropriately. Some birthday treat
ideas are: muffins, finger sandwiches, fruit kabobs, healthy
cookies, 100% fruit juice popsicles, specialty breads (banana,
carrot, or raisin), fruit juice smoothies, bagels and cream
cheese. We ask that no cupcakes or cakes be sent to school.
Please consider bringing a picture of your child on each birthday
from birth to present age to share with the class.

What are good things to pack in my child's lunch box?

Please send a cloth napkin in the lunchbox everyday. Please do
NOT send any candy, soda, cake, desserts or sugar-sweetened
drinks. Beverages must by water, milk or 100% fruit juice. Please
label your child's lunch box and be sure that it contains an ice
pack. We are no longer using a microwave to warm lunches so more
time can be devoted to attending to the children during lunch
time. Please send a spook or fork if needed. Please include
additional food and drink for their afternoon snack if your child
stays past 2:30. Any food that is not eaten will be sent home
with your child.
There is a link to a helpful website for some healty, fun lunch
ideas on our links page.

How do I pick up or drop off my child during classroom hours?

Please enter from the back door (which faces the outdoor
environment and playground, north) so as not to disturb the rest
of the class. Please wait by the cubbies and we will send your
child to you. We ask that you chat with other parents outside so
as not to disturb the class. Please keep siblings at your side.
Always make sure you check in or out with a teacher on duty.

My child came home with something that is not theirs! What is the protocol for returning these items?

First, please keep all toys and jewelry at home. Your child may
bring in something for show and tell on Fridays. On this day, we
welcome books, rocks, shells or other educational items. There is
a small lost and found box that is located in the back of the
room near the cubbies for items to be returned or rediscovered,
so please check that box.
