                                                                           November Newsletter

Let me start by apologizing for this late newsletter. I have been dealing with a very ill dog this week. It has been like having a new born baby again! The class has been very sweet and expressing their concern for me an Abby.

We are beginning to settle into a nice routine in the classroom. It is always nice to see everyone becoming more independent at this time of year!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Sally Foster Fundraiser or donated in lieu of selling! We will be getting some new materials, and I have already purchased some new books for the library!

Here are a few things to look forward to this month:

  1. Presentations began Tuesday, November 2nd. We have had some very interesting presentations so far! I learn something new each year! The audience has been quite polite and engaged also. Please remember to help your child come up with a standard answer to questions they cannot answer, like “I’ll have to research that and get back to you”. There are some challenging questions being asked! As always, if presenting is causing anyone stress, please communicate that to me. We will come up with some ideas on making this less stressful (especially First Years).
  2. The sign up for the South America Luncheon will be on the Web Page soon. The luncheon is held on November 20th from 11:30 to 1:00 on our playground. Everyone is invited to attend! You can also take a tour of the presentations at this campus with your child.
  3. If you have not turned in your disposable camera, white t-shirt, and presentation board, please try to do that soon. I am missing cameras from 1/3 of the class. We take pictures of your student’s presentations and important events with these during the year and hand them back to them for a record of their year.
  4. School is closed in observance of Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. Only All Day Contracts may attend.
  5. Conferences will be December 4th and 7th. A sign up sheet for conferences will be on the web page soon. If there are any questions about your child’s progress before that, please don’t hesitate to send me an email. We can have a “mini” conference on the phone or in person.
  6. Spelling lists are the Web Page under “Handouts” if you lose yours. Some lists are sent home with your child by Becky if they are not in the book. Lists will change again soon.
  7. Please remember to turn in homework sheets on Mondays. Extra sheets may be found in the classroom or on the website. Presentation work may be counted as homework until the presentation is given. Third Years have been given some extra components to their existing homework. They have been asked to write their words in cursive, write five or so definitions, write a sentence using the words. This should be stapled to the homework sheet on Monday. Third Years should also be recording their work on the homework sheet. All parents need to do is sign the sheet. If it is a rough week or day, just note that on the sheet and turn it in. This process helps us keep track of everyone’s progress. The Pink sheet is just a friendly reminder to turn in your weekly sheet. Thank you for reminding your child to turn in their homework!
  8. Please remember to send a hearty snack and lunch with your child each day. We have many hungry children during the day! (Especially Fridays!!)
  9. Thank you to everyone who provided Pizza Friday Snack so far!

  1. From November 3rd through November 21st presentations will be held in the classroom starting at 8:30 am. Please try to have your child here on time every day. If they come in late, they will have to wait outside in the ODE until the presentation over. If you must come only for your child’s presentation on their day, please slip quietly in and out of the back door. Thank you!
