About The Teacher

Maria is a Montessori child herself. Her mother, Mary Orlando, is the
Assistant Head of School here at Villa, and has worked here for close to 20
years. Maria attended Villa from 1st to 8th grade and went on to Arcadia
High School in Scottsdale. She did some "soul searching" after high school,
and in March of 2007 decided to travel to New York and take the
Infant/Toddler training from CMTE/NY. Maria always said she would never
follow in her Mother's foot steps and become an educator, yet here she is!
She feels honored and fortunate to spend her day with these children and be
able to watch them develope daily.

When not at Villa, Maria enjoys being on the lake with her family and
friends, having family dinners and taking her new puppy Stella to the park.

Goals for our Toddler IClass

Welcome to our Montessori Infant/Toddler Program. This program is designed
to meet the needs of your child through his or her interactions with the
environment and teachers. The developmental needs of the Infant/Toddler are
language, movement, order and consistency. We are here to support your
child's efforts in these and other areas. Through your child's interactions
in the environment and with the new adults in their life, my hope is that
they will build a sense of trust and self confidence. Becoming confident,
capable children allowing them to do for themselves what they are capable of
doing. Your child will participate in their daily self-care and routines
that we have established in the environment. They will be able to explore
the environment finding what interests them, and discover new things minute
to minute. The staff and I are here to encourage a open partnership with
you,the parent, and your child. Our goal is to assist you with this phase in
your life and your childs.
