Dear Parents,

We met with a librarian from the Oro Valley library today. The children were
so excited to get their library cards! I think it was the most excited that
a first grade class of mine has ever been! Thank you so much for encouraging
your child to read! They have some upcoming dates where the children can
read to guide dogs! Those dates are as following:
Thursday, January 26th, from 4-5 p.m.
Tuesday, February 14th, from 2-3 p.m.
Thursday, February 23rd, from 4-5 p.m.
Tuesday, March 13th, from 2-3 p.m.
Thursday, March 22nd, from 4-5 p.m.

Next Wednesday will be the 100th day of school. If you can donate 24 donuts
for our celebration, we would really appreciate it. Please let us know.
Thank you!

We want to invite you to Wilson’s special person’s day for first graders
coming on Tuesday, February 7th, from 10:40-12:00. You are welcome to invite
your child’s special person to our school to visit our classroom, go to
lunch, and visit the book fair. Special persons include parents,
grandparents, older siblings, etc. The cafeteria will make a limited choice
of food for adults, but I would highly recommend that you bring a lunch for
yourself and your child to share together. The lunch lines get long, and
then there is not enough time to eat. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Please help your child continue to log into RAZ-kids and IXL math. These
sites reinforce skills taught in our classroom. The RAZ-kids challenge for
the next week is to read 7 books on the child’s level. We have begun this in
the classroom. Your child will only have spelling homework and book bags
this week due to the new challenge and logging into IXL math. Thank you for
your support!

The Wilson K-8 science fair is also coming up on February 28th (judging) and
February 29th, family night. I will email the rubric information to you if
your child is interested in participating. Please let me know. This is not
a requirement for first graders. Some of the first graders mentioned how
much they loved doing the science experiment for homework. One little boy
said “It was off the hook!” We will be doing more of the experiments during
the month of February.

The guest readers for next week are: (guest reader time is 1:45)
M- Ella P.
W- Athena
Th- Nasohn

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

RuthAnn & Jessica
