Seasonal Change

We are a group of Grade 1-5
students from Nanoose Bay
Elementary that are taking part in
this project as an enrichment
project.

Nanoose Bay is in British Columbia
on the west coast of Canada. We
live on the east coast of
Vancouver Island, which is a very
large island. We are very
interested to see the information
from other groups.

This is a picture of our tree in
October.

Thomas's Fall Observations

Thomas is in Grade 2 and this is
his drawing of our tree and the
observations he made.

Some of the major observations we
made were:

* there were several dead branches
* the branches were not straight
* the leaves were a variety of
colours; even the orange leaves
were not one solid colour of orange
* there was moss and lichen
growing on the bark
the bark was textured with grooves

Giovanni's Fall Observations

Giovanni is in Grade 5 and these
are the observations he made of
our tree.

Andrea's Fall Observations

This is Andrea's drawing of our
focus tree in the fall. Our focus
tree is an oak that grows at the
front of our school. Andrea is in
Grade 3 this year.

Rebeka's Clothing

Rebeka is in Grade 3 and this her
picture of what people in Nanoose
Bay wear in the fall.

Temperature Data

This chart shows our temperature
data for the fall. We think you
are going to be surprised by the
weather we have in Nanoose Bay.
Everyone thinks that all of Canada
is really cold, but we actually
don't get very much snow at all
and the temperatures rarely go
below freezing!
