Dear, Parents and Students

Welcome back to the Technology Academy. For those that are new and joining us for the first time, welcome as well. We have a wonderful school year planned ahead and are eager to jump in. This year we have decided to boost our team spirit and create a class theme of “You ought to be in Pictures,” (a movie theme).  I hope you are as excited as we are. Here’s to a great year!

April 18 - 25 - School will be closed for Spring Break.  Students will return
to school on the 26th of April.

The train trip a long time.  It covered 5 states.The Atuto Train is  the longest passenger train in the world.  It is 3/4 of a mile long, carries 439 passengers and 189 cars

Our trip began by boarding the Auto Train in Lorton Virginia.Where is Lorton?What is the auto train?Soon we were on  our way.  The trip would take 16 hours.  We left at 4:00 in the afternoon.

A famous country western singer once wrote about being on the road.  Over the next two weeks follow me and collect my bits of wisdom.  Remember, wisdom is cash.  When I return on March 29th we will see who has done the best job of collecting I left from Lorton Virginia traveling to Clearwater Florida by way of Sanford Florida. I wonder how far I will travel on the trip?

Robert Kennedy once said, "The greatest truth must be recognition that in every man, in every child is the potential for greatness." What do you think that he meant by this & how does it apply to us?

This semester in our English classes, we are reading The Glass Castle.  This is a memoir by Jeannette Walls about growing up with some very unconventional parents.  Its message is that no matter what obstacles we face, we have all that we need to survive and thrive in our life.  It can at times be amusing, hilarious, shocking, and even tragic.  What is the part that we've read so far that you've enjoyed the most?

Welcome as we begin our second semester at the Technology Academy.
Beginning Monday our school day will run from 7:30AM-12:00PM and from 10:00-
2:00 PM Monday thru Thursday.  A copy of the school calendar is posted on the
web site.

Students may bring a lunch.  A refrigerator and a microwave are available for
their use.  Students may also purchase lunch or breakfast from the school or
snack machine.

The list of required school supplies is located on our website
(www.technologyacademy.org).  Students are expected to leave their supplies
at the school, in order to have them available the following day. 

Students will also receive their report cards Monday February 7. We will be
available for conferences after that date.

We will be holding a Holiday Open House in April.  You will be advised
about the exact date and time of this event.  All parents/guardians are
encouraged to attend.

Welcome to our new school year at the Technology Academy.  School begins on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.   Our school day will run from 7:30AM-12:00PM Monday thru Thursday.  A copy of the school calendar is enclosed.

 

Students may bring a lunch.  A refrigerator and a microwave are available for their use.  Students may also purchase lunch or breakfast from the school or snack machine.

           

The list of required school supplies is located on our website (www.technologyacademy.org), a copy will be provided at the Parent/Teacher conference.  Students are expected to leave their supplies at the school, in order to have them available the following day.  Students that cannot provide these supplies by the first day of school need to talk to Mrs. Musselwhite prior to the beginning of school.

 

It is required that parents schedule a conference with our staff prior to the beginning of school.  We will be reviewing our new schedules and the work experience program for the next year.  Students will also receive their schedule and student information packages at this time.  We will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month of August be appointment only.

 

The Emergency Form and the Student/Parent Agreement must be completed and turned in by the first day of school, or your student will not be admitted to class on Tuesday, September 7^th. They can be found on the website or received at the parent conference.
