A Little Bit About Me

I just got married this year to the love of my life, Paul. We have two step
children, both teenagers, 2 cats and a beautiful little English Bulldog Nala.
You'll see a lot of pictures of her! I love exploring hiking paths and
mountains here. My driving force in life is plants! Particularly,
California native plants. I am an active member of the Theodore Payne
Foundation and have a bad habit of re-landscaping all my friends’ front
yards for water conservation. When I am not teaching, reading, hiking,
planting, cooking, watching Kung-fu movies or the Futurama, I occasionally
get the exciting opportunity to help my friends with their science questions
for the TV show CSI.

Famous Quotes

Science does not know its debt to imagination. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds the most
discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny..." ~Isaac
Asimov

Nature composes some of her loveliest poems for the microscope and the
telescope. ~Theodore Roszak, Where the Wasteland Ends, 1972

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. ~Henry
J. Tillman

Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and
calls the adventure Science. ~Edwin Powell Hubble, The Nature of Science,
1954

Even Einstein said, “if you're having trouble with math, I assure you my
difficulties are even greater”

Mission For The Class

Mission Statement

I hope that as a class, we can build a learning community were students and
teachers can interact under the umbrella of equity in order to learn more
from one another and about each other. And that within that community we
share the common interest of science and discovery then, investigate beyond
the expectation!

Personal Educational Philosophy

Knowledge comes in many forms, whether it is through facts and figures,
insights and interpretations, skills and labor, or evaluating and
assessing. Everyone must have it in order to do the one thing that will
impact society and their lives in order to make decisions and articulate
opinions. The unique ability to gain knowledge and apply it to our lives is
what makes us human and being human is what binds us all. I cannot tell you
what the future will be, but I can assure you it will change. I want my
classroom to be their pre-adult playground where they can practice
expressing themselves and making decisions in a safe environment where they
surrounded by people who care about them. I want my students to learn form
themselves, their classmates, their parents, and their teachers. I want
them to learn how to learn!

Classroom Environment Expectations

1.Sustain a clean and safe classroom.
2.Uphold the democratic process by allowing all students’ voices to be heard
3.Nourish a positive learning environment to maximize students’ concept
mastery.
4.Create a secure and accepting environment to involve all students.
5.Instill pride in student work and classroom appearance.
All 5 goals revolve around listening to students, giving students choices,
and allowing student’s room to grow. These goals are based on the
underlying philosophy of mutual respect for one another, as individuals,
peers, and leaders. I call it freedom within limits.
