Dear Parents,
It is a pleasure to be part of the staff at Adobe Bluffs Elementary
School. I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little about my
experience as a teacher of students with special needs. I graduated from the
San Diego State University with a credential in moderate/severe
disabilities, and a masters degree in autism. Part of my field work involves
working with people with severe disabilities, problem behaviors, autism and
much more. My younger sister has intellectual disabilities and growing up
with her has made me realize the importance of the special education field. I
am extremely passionate and bring a fresh perspective to the classroom. I am
very excited for this upcoming year and have a lot of fun and creative ideas.
I value the unique strengths and learning styles of the students
with whom I work. This belief is reflected in my careful planning and
designing of curriculum with the needs and strengths of the student in mind.
I utilize a variety of visual, auditory and kinesthetic strategies to engage
students in their learning process. My instructional planning is based on
formal and informal assessments of each student in order to meet their IEP
goals. Appropriate classroom behavior is modeled and reinforced in order to
create a safe and caring learning environment for all students.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
Together, we can provide a collaborative and positive learning experience for
your child here at Adobe Bluffs!
Please feel free to e-mail, call, or schedule a conference if
you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns!
