2nd Quarter

Science-7

Reading Standard/Common Core: Craft & Structure
  #4. Students will, "Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms...".
  #7. Students will, "Integrate quatitative or technical
information...".
  #8. Students will, "Distinguish among facts, reasoned judgment
based on research findings, and speculation in a text."
Life Science Content Standard #1: Cell Biology
  #1. All living organisms are composed of cells, from just one to
many trillions, whose details usuallyu are visible only through a
microscrope.
Life Science Content Standard #2: Genetics
  #2. Typical cell of any organism contains genetic instructions
that specify its traits. Those traits may be modified by
environmental influences.

Physical Science Content Standard #1: Motion
  #1. The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position.
Physical Science Content Standard #2: Forces
  #2. Unbalanced forces cause changes in velocity.

Pre-Algebra-7

Number Sense
1.0 Students know the properties of, and compute with, rational
numbers expressed in a variety of forms;
2.0 Students use exponents, powers, and roots and use exponents in
working with fractions;

Algebra and Functions
1.0 Students express quantitative relationships by using algebraic
terminology, expressions, equations, inequalities, and graphs;
3.0 Students graph and interpret linear and some nonlinear functions.
Statistics, Data Analysis and Probability
1.0 Students collect, organize and represent data sets that have one
or more variables and identify relationships among variables within a
data set by hand and through the use of an electronic spreadsheet
software program;

Mathematical Reasoning
1.0 Students make decisions about how to approach problems;
2.0 Students use strategies, skills and concepts in finding solutions;
3.0 Students determine a solution is complete an move beyond a
particular problem by generalizing to other situations.

Algebra I
In addition to the above,
4.0 Students solve simple linear equations and inequalities over the
rational numbers;
Measurement and Geometry
1.0 Students choose appropriate units of measurement and use rations
to convert within and between measurement systems to solve problems;
2.0 Students compute perimeter, area and volume of common geometric
objects and use the results to find measure of less common objects.
They know how perimeter, area and volume are affected by changes of
scale.
