About The Teacher

 Hi Parents,
Welcome to a new and promising school year! I am blessed to have the
opportunity to work with the first grade families. Thank you for entrusting
your child to me. The education, health, and safety of each child are the
most important thing to me this year. As a teacher, I represent someone who
can show a room full of students that they are a part of a wonderful world
that needs them to be all that they can be. I am very enthusiastic about
teaching. I tend to use many tactile and kinesthetic strategies to help each
student understand the curriculum. To insure your child’s success, it is
important that we work together in a home and school partnership.

Let me share a little about myself. My name is Ms. del Hierro, but
everyone calls me Ms D. I'm happy to say that this is my sixth year teaching
at Annunciation Catholic School. My passion goes to teaching the first grade
class. I enjoy watching the first graders grow in their learning
development. Each day is an adventure!

I am the product of Catholic education. I attended St. Pius V School
(Kindergarten to eighth grade). I graduated from St. Joseph High School in
2001. I then got my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies in 2005, my teaching
credential in 2006, and my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with
an emphasis in Practice Inquiry (Master's in Education) in 2009. All these
degrees were obtained from California State University of Fullerton.

When I am not teaching at Annunciation Catholic School, I lead an active
lifestyle. I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, and staying
healthy by eating right and working out at a kettlebell gym.

Mission For The Class

My mission is to lead my students to make responsible decisions based on
our student learning expectations. I want to promote a positive learning
environment, so my students can feel like they are successful learners. I
use various of hands-on activities, cooperative learning groups, and other
strategies to inspire and motivate my students to want to learn the first
grade curriculum.
