Homework
Homework
will be checked for completion and parent signature. Homework is intended to provide review and reinforcement,
and, for the most part, should be completed by the student with minimal parental
assistance.
Conferences
Conferences
can be arranged by appointment.
Grading
Grading
is similar for all subjects. Students are evaluated orally and in their written work. Through hands-on
activities, written assignments and verbal response their progress is also evaluated. Students are constantly checked for
accuracy and for grasping the concepts that are taught. Class participation is
a very important component of a student’s grade.
Assumption School-wide "Discipline With Purpose" Program
For the third year in a row, our entire school community will be participating in the "Discipline With Purpose" developmental approach to teaching self-discipline. Self-discipline is a person's ability to wait. While a person waits, he/she thinks, processes and decides how to act. Good choices are the usual result of this process. These rules will be hanging in each classroom and throughout the school:
1. Respect yourself, others and things.
2. Contribute to the learning environment.
3. Follow school and classroom procedures.
To make these rules an active part of daily life, activities, lessons and discussions will be implemented at each grade level. At home, you can modify these rules to fit your family/home environment. These guidelines are applicable to interacting with others in any situation. The support and reinforcement will help your child appreciate the basic nature of these ideas.
Classroom
Expectations
Our
rules are simple, yet profound:
1. Love
and imitate Christ.
2. Love
and respect ourselves.
3. Love
and respect others.
4. Do
our best.
We
will focus on making good choices this year, and when our choices could have
been better, we’ll learn from our mistakes and try again. Together we will grow
a lot, loving and supporting each other every step of the way.
