Homework

Everyone has the same reading assignment this week. There are no decodeable
readers or read naturally. Have your child read the stories and answer the
comprehension questions. Please review your child's responses and discuss
any errors with him/her.

If your child is participating in "Read Naturally", be sure that s/he reads
the passage on a daily basis. Every word must be read correctly! No
substitutions are allowed! We are working towards accuracy and fluency with
expression.

If your child is on an independent reading agreement, please have him/her
write down the book titles on the reading log (yellow this month). If s/he
is reading a chapter book, s/he can record a chapter each night. Return the
reading log, signed by a parent, at the end of the month.

If your child is using a decodeable book, be sure to have him/her read this
daily and graph the time.

Practice telling time and calculating elapsed time at home. The students
would also benefit from some practice counting money. They seem to be
forgetting what they've learned and I can only cover so much in the
classroom!

We are on topic #7 for oral language: My Favorite Artist.
Your child will be telling us about his/her favorite artist. S/he should
bring a photo or picture representing the artists work.
