  1. What is a lexile score?

What is a lexile score?

Your child took an SRI quiz on the computer to determine his/her
lexile score. A lexile score is a way of matching books with a
student's reading level. You may find the lexile score for many
books by checking this website: www.lexile.com (or go to "Helpful
Links" on my website and click on Lexile). Click on the band that
says "Families." Next, go to Lexile Book Database. You are able
to enter the title or author of the
book your child is reading or might choose to read to find out if
it is a good book for him/her. Stay within 100 lexile points
below and 50 lexile points above your child's current lexile
score. Your child has a lexile bar graph page showing his/her
current lexile score in his/her binder under the
language arts tab. You may read additional information about
lexile levels at the lexile website. I have books in my
classroom library available for
check-out. They are grouped by lexile to make the selection
process easier for the students.
