S.C.O.R.E.:
SCORE is our new school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS).
The letters in SCORE stand for:
Success
Compassion
On-task
Respect
Effort
Students have the opportunity to earn SCORE cards in the classroom and on our
Brywood campus. On the second day of school all Brywood students went
through rotations to learn what it looks like to "SCORE" wherever they are
throughout the school. Every Friday morning at 8:00 A.M. we will gather as a
school community in the lunch area to celebrate SCORE behavior. There will
be a drawing, two students per grade level, of the SCORE cards students
earned throughout the week. Students will get their pictures taken and these
will be displayed in the MPR. Encourage your child to use SCORE behavior
every day!
PENALTY BOX:
Unfortunately, there are times when students need reminders about appropriate
classroom behavior. In following with our sports theme, I have a Penalty Box
where a student may need to go to get refocused and be ready to try to use
SCORE behavior instead. In the Penalty Box, the student will fill out a form
explaining why he/she thinks he/she is there, what the teacher thinks, and
what he/she needs to do next time. The student will bring this form home for
parent signature. The form must be returned the next school day. Please use
this as an opportunity to discuss how the inappropriate behavior takes away
from the student's learning as well as the learning of others.
HOMEWORK/GRADING:
At Back to School Night parents received our 4th grade homework plan. I have
also posted it under "Projects, Worksheets, and Forms."
FIELD TRIPS:
We usually go on three field trips per year. When a permission slip comes
home, please try to return it promtly. We often have deadlines to submit
payment.
We always need parent volunteers. However, some trips limit the number of
parents who can go. If you are interested in chaperoning, please sign up at
the bottom of the information letters as they come home. When needed, a
drawing will be held for those who complete the slips.
BIRTHDAYS:
In Room 16, we all love to celebrate birthdays! To promote a healthy
lifestyle, our school policy is that no food or drinks be brought in to
celebrate. Instead, students may choose to do one of the following if they
wish:
*Donate a book to our class library
*Provide a new playground ball
*Bring in school supplies such as pencils/erasers/highlighters for the
students
*Bring a small toy or party favor for each student
Please limit the amount spent to $1.00 or less per student. Celebrating
birthdays at school is always optional and your choice. I will give each
student a birthday pencil to celebrate their day. Thanks for your continued
support!
