Hello! I am thrilled to be starting my twelfth year teaching 8th grade
Language Arts at Canyon. Can you believe that - 12 years! Originally from
Reno, NV, I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and then moved
back to Reno to do my student teaching at my alma mater, Reno High. After a
year of teaching seniors and freshmen there, I moved down to the Bay Area and
entered the world of teaching middle-schoolers. I found my true passion here,
and I don't think I'll ever go back to high schoolers! :) Eighth graders are
too much fun!
I also love being a mom! My husband and I have two wonderful little boys,
Scotland and Calder. Scotland is five, which means he is (usually)
tons of fun and makes us laugh all the time! Calder, who
turned two this past summer, talks nonstop and is finding his own
personality; it's fun to watch the brothers play together! My other favorites
are spending time with my friends and family, vacationing, reading, and eating
chocolate. I love turtles and my two beagles - Bogey and Mulligan.
I am looking forward to a great year! Hopefully, we will all learn a
lot and have lots of fun too! That's what school, especially middle school,
should be all about!
I am excited to be able to spend this year with you. My goal for this class
is to ensure that you are prepared for your high school English experience.
Please understand that I have high expectations for my students and you will
work hard in this class. Together, we will have a very successful year!
