How many concerts are there each year?
The Canyon Choirs perform 2 to 3 times a year in evening concerts.
These are required performances for all students. In addition, the
Choral Ensemble and Treble Choir perform for the MPS Spaghetti Feed,
the Light the Lights benefit for the Center for the Arts, and on rare
occasions, performance tours or special events.
When and where are the required concerts held?
Concerts are always scheduled during the regular school year on week
nights. They almost always begin at 7 PM, and last one to 1 1/2 hours.
Most concerts will be held in the new Center for the Arts, although there
may be some exceptions.
What do I wear to the concerts?
All Choir students wear specific performance outfits.
Sixth Grade Choir: Black skirts/pants, black socks/tights, black shoes,
red choir shirts (sold to each student at the beginning of the year).
Treble Choir: Black knee length skirt, black sheer stockings, black
shoes, white choir blouse (supplied by the school).
Choral Ensemble: Girls: black knee length skirt, black sheer stockings,
black shoes, red choir blouse (supplied by the school). Boys: Black
long sleeved dress shirt, black slacks, black socks, black shoes.
What if I miss a concert?
Please refer to the Choir syllabus for information on concert attendance.
Concert dates are given out at the beginning of the year so that students
and families may make appropriate plans for the upcoming school year.
Is there a cost for concert tickets?
We do ask for a ticket fee/donation for our concerts. We do this in lieu of
fundraising. The ticket fee covers the costs involved in each concert as
well as funding the many needs of the choir that are not covered in the
district budget. Examples include bussing, special performances,
costuming, etc.
