This is my eleventh year of teaching at Casa Grande HS. I previously taught at Durham HS (near
Chico) for 12 years and before that at Justin-Siena HS in Napa for two years. During those years I
have taught physical science, chemistry, physics, Earth science, computer literacy and advanced
computer applications, as well as algebra. I have also coached football, volleyball and golf at the HS
level.
I grew up in Marin County and eventually moved away to go to college, first at UC Berkeley then
transferring to UC San Diego where I received my degree in chemistry. Soon after graduation I
accepted a job teaching chemistry and physical science at Justin-Siena while working on my
teaching credential at Sonoma State.
I live in Petaluma with my wife, two children (age 16 and 19), one very large German Shepherd and
three little bunnies.
It is my hope that all of my science students will:
-gain a greater appreciation for how important a role science plays in their lives;
-be prepared for success in future science classes;
-become better problem-solvers;
-develop a deeper understanding for the nature of science;
-learn to collect and analyze data and be able to interpret the results to make meaningful conclusions.
