Mrs. Ranney has taught in the Las Virgenes Unified School District since 1973.
She spent her first year at Round Meadow with a 2 - 3 combination class. Then
it was on to Sumac where she taught second and third grade until 1981. After
taking three years off to be home with her twin daughters,
she returned to work at Chaparral where she has been ever since, teaching
first, fourth, fifth, and now third grades. Even after all these years, Mrs.
Ranney still loves coming to school everyday and is looking forward to this
fourth year in third grade after completing 19 years in fifth!
Mrs. Ranney's twin daughters are now twenty - eight years old. Sarah, a
dancer, lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Jeremy, a graphic
artist. Kari lives in Frankfurt, Germany, where she teaches English.
In her free time Mrs. Ranney enjoys gardening, bicycling, hiking, yoga, water
aerobics, bird - watching, and camping with her husband who works in the
grounds department of LVUSD.
Our mission in Room 9 is to develop into lifelong learners. We will focus on
building self esteem through meeting and overcoming challenges. We will
emphasize the importance of knowing how to find out what we need and want to
know by searching and researching.
Our motto is "Attitude is everything!"
