                                      December 14
THIS WEEK –Ee for Emmanuel (meaning God is with us); emotions (which we are
seeing a lot of ) and equivalent (equal); Epiphany; E is another powerful
vowel (like a=apple & i=itchy, it) and we concentrate on the short vowel
sound as in egg. [We do talk about E saying its name (as in eat) but our
focus is on the short sound.]

*Remember the month long December homework – reading books and filling out
the white sheet. If you need another, let us know!! We will have an
assessment when we come back so please practice the letter shapes and sounds
listed below. We will also be assessing the numbers – 1 to 1 counting &
writing numbers 1-10.  Have your child tell you the time on the hour; count;
and match equal items (2 peas are the same as 2 carrot)

Review of sounds: Please practice the sounds and writing these letters over
the holidays!!!
Cc cat Ll lion
Oo octopus Dd dog
Gg goat Ii igloo
Aa apple Tt turtle
Ss sun Ff fish
Ee egg (this sound is especially difficult, so please keep practicing it!!)

We hope you have noticed some paper Beginning letterbooks coming home (LOST,
A CLASS ACT). Please keep them and practice the words and sounds. We do not
necessarily expect your child to master every word. We have found it helpful
for some students if you cover all the words - except the one your child is
attempting to sound out. You can help them blend the sounds together as this
is such an important beginning reading skill.

WANTED! ADVENT Worship service PICTURES!! Please send to:
kindergarten@clschool.org. We need them for the yearbook plus I can send them
to all the parents! Also, if you took a video it can be loaded onto youtube –
then let us know!
