Thank you to all the parents that were drivers and chaperones for the field
trip to the de Saisset Museum and Mission Santa Clara. Thanks to Mr. Suydam
too for filling in for me while I was at Outdoor Education with the 5th
graders. We could not have had this great educational experience without you!

We have started Unit 6 in Math. This unit covers mathematical concepts such as
multiplication and division number stories, strategies for long division,
interpreting remainders, rotations and angles, using a full-circle protractor,
using a half-circle protractor, and coordinate grids for maps. Because this
unit contains a large variety of concepts, there will be a mid-unit assessment
to break up the concepts into more manageable chunks.

Our class has started our second set of Literature Circle Novels! The books
the five groups are reading include: How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas
Rockwell, Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key by Jack Gantos, Niagara Falls or Does
It? by Henry Winkler & Lin Oliver, Granny by Anthony Horowitz, and Ghostville
Elementary: Ghost Class by Marcia T. Jones.
