10 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD DO WELL AT SCHOOL

1. Show you care. Children always welcome hugs and kind words. Ask they
about their school day.
2. Read, Read, Read. Read with and to your child. Set an example by showing
that you, too, enjoy reading.
3. Make home a place for learning. Try to stimulate creativity with lots of
art supplies.
4. Promote healthy habits. Limit television time and increase sleep time.
Eat right and get some exercise each day.
5. Be a role model. Be positive about school and show you enjoy learning,
too.
6. Encourage independence. Remember, students can learn from mistakes. Give
them chores to learn responsibility.
7. Create a study routine. This includes a consistent time and place for the
children to work on their schoolwork.
8. Get involved. Visit with your child’s teacher, attend school events, and
go over their homework every day.
9. Build success by setting realistic goals and praising their efforts to
successfully meet them.
10. Make school important. Insist on good attendance and punctuality
