I will be teaching directly from the California State Standards. There is so much to cover in first grade so we will move rather quickly. The following is a list of activities that I use to meet all standards and help each child reach their highest potential.

Social Studies

• Our adopted Social Studies Program is Harcourt. We will complete 1 - 2 units per month.

Science

• Our adopted Science Program is Harcourt. The units that we will study are:

1. Matter   (Physical Science)
2. Weather (Earth Science)
3. Living and Non-living Organisms (Life Science)

Physical Education

• We will have P.E. on Monday afternoons. The program will emphasize locomotion, hand eye coordination, the development of gross motor skills and sportsmanship.

Music

• We have a wonderful music teacher. Our Music day is on Wednesday. Her program will emphasize singing and all the properties of music.
