About The Teacher

About Your Teacher, Mr. Singer:
Ocean View School District has been my sole employer for the last 15 years. On a two-year transfer plan from Orange Coast College, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Ecology (with a specialization in child studies & psychology), at the University of California, Irvine.
I have also added on two specialized, supplimentary credentials: one in teaching social studies, the other, a Crosscultural, Language & Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate.
In 2008, I Received my Master's Degree in Teaching with a Specialization in Educational Technology at National University.
My teaching career began at Lake View Elementary in 1995, teaching 4th grade. That tour lasted six years, and I moved into their Title I Computer Lab, helping students enhance their reading and writing skills. After that, I took a two year leave of absence to raise my newborn son. Next, I relocated to College View in my present position. I'm happily married (my wife is a special education teacher), and I'm the proud father of two energetic boys, ages 6 and 16. My youngest son is a 1st grade student at College View too! In my spare time, I enjoy travel, going to concerts, reading, computers, video games, surfing, swimming, and of course, spending time with my wonderful family.
Your Teacher's Mission Statement-The Crucial Connection for Student Success:
The home/school connection is vital for success. My goal is to establish a reciprocal relationship in which teachers and parents work together to implement a total educational plan. The result will be a learning environment that meets the needs of each student, and every child can be successful.
I enjoy teaching not only for my love of it, but because of the wonderful teachers in my classroom: The Students!
