ICE CREAM for BOOKS!
At Condit School

Dear Students and Parents,
It’s time to start the Condit School reading program for the First and Second Grade. The purpose of
this program is to accelerate growth in reading ability and foster a love of reading in all students. The
theme is Ice Cream for Books! Students who complete this program will receive a snack ticket to be
redeemed at Condit’s Snack Bar AND a Reading Medal to given at a special Reading Awards Assembly in
June.
To earn a snack ticket and medal each First Grade Student will need to read 20 books, and turn in a
completed book form, each Second Grade Student will need to read 25 books, and turn in a completed
book form. The books are to be read by the student with parent help only if necessary. Awards are
earned as follows:
Grade 1 Grade 2

Goal 2 3 5 Pencil
Goal 3 5 10 New Book
Goal 4 10 15 Folder
Goal 5 15 20 Notebook
Goal 6 20 25 Snack Ticket for a treat AND a medal!
After the Ice Cream for Books! goal has been reached the student will then move on to the Accelerated
Reader program. To earn a reading trophy, the student will need to reach Goal 6 AND his or her
personal Accelerated Reader Goal.
Now the FUN BEGINS – START READING!
