There will be no school on Monday, February 13, 2012. On Tuesday,
February 14, 2012, we will have our Valentine exchange party at the end of
the school day from 1:30-2:15 p.m. Your child may bring valentines to school
that morning (there are 25 children in the classroom). A suggestion would be
to leave the names of each classmate off the valentine cards so that there is
less confusion when passing them out. Remember to wear pink, red or
purple! Parents are welcomed to also join our party!
This week and nextweek we will be starting with Theme 5 in
Reading/Language Arts and reading the story Brothers and Sisters
(Nonfiction). We have also begun Spell-a-thon. We will be testing on
Friday, Feb. 17th Week 3 words (25 words).
We will also focus on timed math tests for sums over 10. Please keep
using those flashcards and practicing the time math every night. We have
concluded that if your child can answer 24 questions out of 30 in a minute,
which is 80% or better, they are doing very well.
The final draft for the dinosaur report is due Wednesday, February
15, 2012. Please make sure your child has colored the front page with
colored pencils or crayons. We will be working on the title page, front
cover and back cover in class. If you have any questions please let me know
