Homework

Dear Parents,

Homework is sent home every Monday and is due on Thursday. Please have your
child complete all printing assignments with pencil and use crayons for all
drawing/coloring assignments (no markers or pens).

To help your child develop good habits, watch him/her as he/she prints
letters and numbers. Start at the top (use the guide on the homework
envelope) and make sure he/she is holding his/her pencil correctly.

Please read all of the directions to your child and check his/her work. First
Graders should practice reading the directions aloud with their parents and
then independently.

In addition, Kindergarteners will be bringing home an easy reader book every
Monday in their homework folder. This is a book that your child has
made and has practiced reading in class. Please have your child read this
book to you daily. It is important to practice one-to-correspondance
(tracking the words when reading) and reading from left to right. Please
also review the parts of a book such as the front, the back, the spine, the
title page and where to begin reading. Please sign the back of the book by
the stamp, "I read to:" and return the book in your child's homework folder
on Thursdays.

First Grade: First Grade Homework will also go home on Mondays and will be
returned each day. The First Graders and Kindergarteners will receive
thier homework folders after Back to School Night on September 11, 2008.

Please practice the Kindergarten high frequency words with your child. Here
is the list for your reference. Thanks!
