Experience

At age 18 I got my first job working with children at Village Montessori
School. I thought the job would be fun and the hours were perfect for someone going to school. I
soon fell in love with the entire experience and changed my major to child development. Within a
year I began teaching preschool and remained doing so until I graduated from CSU Sacramento.
Teaching at a Montessori school for so long has greatly shaped the way I teach now. Giving kids
freedom of movement, accepting their ideas and thoughts and allowing as much choice as I can all
stem from my years at the Montessori school.

My first public school teaching assignment was at Sierra Gardens Elementary
school in Roseville. After two years there, I transferred to Cooley Middle School! I absolutely
love teaching middle school. I am currently in my 11th
year of teaching and my 9th year at Cooley.

In my free time I love to travel, it is definitely my passion! I have been fortunate enough to travel to
Japan, Thailand, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Spain, Mexico,
Canada, Ireland,England, Scotland, Peru, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. John (my favorite) and all over
the East Coast USA. If your behavior is great here at Cooley, perhaps we will someday travel to
Europe together on one of Cooley's annual summer Europe trips!

My Favorite Kids and YA Books

Please note that these books range from 3rd grade to high school level because of the many different
reading levels we have in class. Please check the level before you begin a book. I hope to have the
