How do I find out what my child has for homework?

Check your child's planner. Everyday, for the last 5 minutes of the
period,
your child copies down the homework from the homework chart on the
board into
their planner. If you need to verify that the homework is correct, call the
homework hotline, 771-1745 ext. 167 or check the homework section on
this
website.

How does AR (accelerated reader) work?

Your child takes a STAR reading comprehension test at the beginning of
each
trimester to find out what their ZPD (zone of proximal development) is.
Point
goals are given based on the ZPD. Students read AR books within their
zone
and once finished take a test either in the library before school, at lunch
or
after school or in my classroom. If a book is worth 10 points and they
score
90%, they receive 90% of the possible points-9 points.

* Check their planner and homework every night.
* Monitor their AR reading every night. Ask them questions about what they
are reading and sign their reading log.
* Check their backpack and binder frequently to make sure it is organized. Do
