Dear Parents,
Once again, THERE ARE NO SPELLING SENTENCES.
Instead, your child will draw and write about his/her favorite game.
All other homework papers are included as usual.
LANGUAGE ARTS- Currently, we are focusing on the following:
Phonics/Phonemic Awareness:
Separating(segmenting) and counting sounds in words
Final clusters: ft, lk, nt
Long vowels: e or o (CV, CVCe), u (CVCe)
Vowel pairs: ee, ea, ai, ay
Reading Strategies:
Phonics/decoding summarize; question; predict/infer
Reading Comprehension Skills:
Story structure; noting details; making predictions
Grammar:
Naming words for people, animals, things, places; naming words for one
or more
Vocabulary Words:
Alphbetical order; fruits and vegetables; rhyming words; expressions of
surprise; parts of the body; animal action words
MATH- Over the next couple of weeks, we're working on these concepts:
Addition: Sums to 11 and 12; adding three numbers; missing addends
Subtraction: Subtract from 12 and 11 or less; relate addition and
subtraction
Vocabulary: count on; addend; sum; order; number sentence
****** SPECIAL NOTE regarding PRIVATE TUTORS:
The school district has just provided teachers with a list of teachers in the
school district who are available for private tutoring. If you are
interested in a copy of the list, please email me and I'll make sure you get
a copy.
