Homestead Frosh/Soph Basketball
2009-2010

--The Frosh-Soph basketball team will consist of 12-15 players. Final cuts will be made the week of
October 27th for non-football players and the week of November 17th for football players.
--You will be evaluated in the following areas:
1. Ability
2. Teachability
3. Hustle, and Desire
4. Ability to be a team player

Along with the above criteria the team needs to have the correct balance of sophomores and freshmen
--Please be dressed, stretched, and ready to go at the beginning time of each practice, so we can
utilize every minute.
--Please be at every practice. If you cannot make a practice or tryout, call or e-mail me in advance.

a. Personal Objectives: Develop Healthy Priorities
1. Family-- Cultivate a loyalty and devotion to your family
2. School-- Academics and your willingness to work hard will help you in every arena of life,
including basketball.
3. Basketball—A strong commitment to basketball is needed if you want to develop your skills.

b. Team Objectives: My objectives are simple and never change
1. We’re going to play hard-- Give everything you have, every second you are on the basketball
court.
2. We’re going to play smart-- I want you to understand the game of basketball better, to
play within the team offense and defense that we will spend a great deal of time practicing.
3. We’re going to have fun-- Know that basketball is a game, and your primary reason for
participating is the pleasure you experience while playing it. If you are afraid to fail or are
afraid to lose, then you won’t have fun. Play hard and smart always.

2. What you can expect from me:
a. I will do the best I can, within those same priorities, to have our team as well prepared as
possible.
b. I am available to assist you in both your personal and our team objectives.
c. I will treat you with dignity and respect.
