The California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) recognizes and encourages high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship.  Membership eligibility is restricted to 8th grade students and based on academic points, satisfactory citizenship, and community service hours.  Membership in CJSF is for one trimester and all members must re-apply each trimester, if eligible.

CJSF participation includes two meetings during the trimester and one CJSF event (college campus orientation or guest speaker).  Students must attend 2 out of 3 CJSF events (one excused absence) in order to fulfill participation requirements.

CJSF Honor Members are students who have maintained academic eligibility and fulfilled all membership requirements (citizenship, meeting attendance and community service) for three consecutive trimesters.  Honor members will receive a CJSF Gold Seal on their promotion certificate and cumulative record. 

Academic Eligibility
Students must earn 10 academic points on prior trimester report card to be eligible for membership.  Points are awarded for core classes only (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science) with an A=3 pts, B=1 pt, and no points for C grades or below.

For example:  An 8th grade student's first trimester eligibility is based on 7th grade third trimester grades.
Student earned A in Language Arts, A in Math, B in Social Studies, and A in Science:
A = 3
A = 3
B = 1
A = 3
Total = 10 points and student is eligible for CJSF

Satisfactory Citizenship
Students in CJSF must maintain citizenship at an "S" or better in all classes.  If a CJSF student is suspended for any reason, membership for that trimester will be revoked. 

Community Service
CJSF members must complete 5 hours of community service for each membership term (trimester).  If a student does not complete the the required number of hours of community service by the end of the trimester, membership in CJSF is consider NOT fulfilled.  Additional community service forms are available below to download (see CJSF Forms).
