home reading

Each night students are to read for 25- 30 minutes each. Students may borrow books from class with permission. They need to write the book title, minutes read and 2-3 sentences about what they read. Some examples of write ups are bellow.

  • Tell about what you read in a few sentences. Address only the important events.
  • Write about your favorite part.
  • Would you recommend this book or not? Why, why not?
  • Does the story or the characters remind you of another book or movie?
  • Does the story remind you of something that has happened to you or a person you know, or a place you have been?
  • Was there a difficult part in the stroy to understand?
  • Can you make a prediction about what will happen next?
  • Does the character do something that suprises you?
  • Do you have questions/ wonderings about the events in the story?

If the home reading sheet is lost of left at school, it can be done on a separate sheet of paper and attached to the Friday packet.
