  9. Will my fourth grade child get fourth grade material?
  10. Will my third grade be bored next year and have the same activities?

My child says he/ she has no homework. Is this true?

No. Monday- Thursday they have nightly homework. They always need to read
outside of class for 25- 30 minutes. They always need to write about their
reading. If there is a math test, they may not have a sheet with them, but
they always should be practicing their multiplication and division facts. If
there is still doubt e-mail me at meredithgies@yahoo.com

My child says they don't have to read a book for the book report. Is this true

Again NO. They need to read new books for each report. I try to change the
genre to encourage this, but this isn't alyways the case.

Is it ok for me to write/ type the homework for my kid?

Again no. I'd rather it be a bit sloppy than for it to be done in the
parent's handwriting.

Can I bring the math, science, social studies book home for extra practice?

YES!!! Please do, but bring it back.

Can I borrow a book from Ms. Gies' library?

Yes..... but please return it for other students to enjoy.

My child says he/she didn't know about the book report, is this true?

No. I only assign one a month so that I can give the students plenty of time
to prepare. I have extra directions attached to their homework twice, in
case they lose the first copy. Plenty of discussion and reminders are given
in class. Extra directions are posted at the bulletin board near the door,
in case the directions get lost. Unless they have been absent for weeks in a
row, they should know! If all else fails, e-mail me.

My child left his/ her homework packet?! Should they double up another night?

This does not need to be a problem. They can do their work on lined paper
and turn it in with their packet on Friday. I will staple it together.
Hopefully with the spelling lists, and directions for home reading online,
they can manage without the packet if this problem occurs. Hope this helps
with those sometimes forgetful students of ours!

Is my child telling me the truth or not???? Hmmmm

If there is doubt... e-mail me. I usually check my e-mail several times a
night. If not please call the school in the AM, or send me a note. I will
say I am best with e-mail.

Will my fourth grade child get fourth grade material?

YES!!! They will get fourth grade math, science, social studies, writing,
and all of the fourth grade activities!

Will my third grade be bored next year and have the same activities?

NO! I am sticking to the third grade standards. If I add fourth grade
material, it will be different than what they will get next year.
