Is biology hard?
While some of the concepts in biology can be difficult to understand, I
generally will present content in many ways, catering to many different
learning styles. Any student who is willing to put forth the effort to
learn, will.
Do we get to do a lot of experiments?
You can expect to engage in many hands-on activities and laboratory
experiments throughout the year. Typically, we will do 1-2 of them per week.
Do we get to dissect anything?
Dissection will follow certain topics, after extensive study. Specimens may
include but are not limited to: flower, heart, eyeball, and frog.
How can I get extra help if I don't understand something?
I am available during lunch, before, and after school by appointment.
How long have you been a teacher?
I have been in public education since 2000. I have served students as a
classroom teacher in the fields of math, biology, chemistry, and physics.
Can I earn extra credit?
Usually not. See me personally and we'll evaluate your situation on an
individual basis.
What is your favorite field of science?
I find forensics to be quite interesting. Using science to catch bad guys is
awesome!
What is your snake's name?
Ethyl, as in ethyl alcohol, which is derived from corn. She is a corn snake,
after all.
What is your bearded dragon's name?
Lizzy. She was a gift from a former student.
What do you like to do for fun?
I have recently taken up playing the acoustic guitar and I enjoy golfing. I'm
not very good at either one. I'm usually pretty active.
