Physical education is a continous process from kindergarten through the
twelfth grade that teaches children a wide variety of movement skills and
activites that will help them become physically educated and physically fit
by encouraging a commitment to lifelong physical health and well-being. It is
the role of the physical education system to promote positive physical,
mental, emotional, and social health by providing an age-appropriate,
progressive, and well-planned physical education program that focuses on the
needs of each individual student participating in the program. Through units
such as fit for life, dance, racquet sports, team sports, and fitness, all
students should improve their overall fitness levels. These units will also
allow all students to participate at levels that provide both challenges and
early successes.
