About The Teacher

Graduated "Cum Laude" from Occidental College (GPA 3.60), Eagle Rock 
California, with a BA in Biochemistry. Passed the American Chemical Society 
Examination in Biochemistry with Distinction. Twice recipient of a National 
Science Foundation Research Grant to undertake dissociation studies of the 
Enzyme Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). Recipient of a UCLA Bridges 
research grant to study the effects of Essential Hypertention due to 
pressure overload in mammalian heart cells.

Associate degree from LA Harbor College (Chemistry Major-GPA 4.00).
Tutored algebra, trigonometry, pre-calc, calculus, differential equations, 
linear algebra, and all chemistry at LA Harbor College. I have passed all 
three California State Examinations for Teachers in Mathematics.

This is the start of my eleventh year here at Dodson. My daughter Katie, was 
an eighth grade Magnet student at Dodson, where she was very involved with 
the Drama program. She played Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ in 2002, and She 
played Reno in Anything Goes in 2003. She has just graduated from Boston 
University with a B.A. in Fine Arts. Master Cabinetmaker and Carpenter. I 
enjoy woodworking, reading, chess,mountaineering, martial arts, running, 
cycling, building racing-bicycles,and playing the classical guitar. I am 
presently working on pieces by Bach,Tarrega, Andrew York, and Granados.

Mission For The Class

To prepare you for high school, college, and life. To alleviate some of the 
math anxiety, which you have spent so much time and energy developing 
over the course of your academic career up to this point. To guide you in 
how to use the best toy that you will ever have - your brain.
