I grew up in San Diego, California. After attending UC Irvine to earn a BA in psychology
and a teaching credential, I began teaching 4th grade in San Clemente, California in 1990. In
1994-1995, I taught a 4th/5th grade combination and decided at that time to move to 5th grade,
which I continued teaching until 2000. For the 2000-2001 school year, I came north to work
on my master's degree at Stanford. Falling in love with the area, I made the move permanent and
was lucky enough to find a job at Duveneck where I have been teaching 5th grade since 2001. In
2006, I earned a National Board of Teaching Credential, a national credential held by less than 2% of
teachers in the country. Reading, traveling, and spending time with my spouse and friends are things
I like to do in my spare time.
