Our class will center around the following 5 art standards:
ARTISTIC PERCEPTION
Students will use the vocabulary of the visual arts to describe their
perceptions. Vocabulary for art includes, for example: line, shape, color,
texture, and form.
CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Students will create original works of art (painting, collage, etc.). They
will use a variety of media (watercolors, pastels, etc.) while developing
artistic skills and using artistic processes.
ART HISTORY
Art is created in a social and cultural context. We will study art throughout
the world from various periods, styles, and cultures.
AESTHETIC VALUING
Students will be making judgments about works of art, analyzing how a work of
art looks and what a work of art communicates. Students will explain the
intent of a personal work of art.
CONNECTIONS TO OTHER SUBJECTS AND CAREERS
Students apply what they learn in the visual arts across subject areas. They
develop competencies and creative skills in problem solving, communication,
and management of time and resources that contribute to lifelong learning and
career skills.
