Mr. Spicci graduated from Reedley College in 1982 with an Associates in
Science degree in Vocational Forestry. He spent several seasons with the
National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service as a wild land fire fighter.
He returned to college in 1986 and completed his Bachelors degree in Biology
with a Chemistry minor in 1990. In 1992 he began work on his Master's
degree in Biology. From 1990-1992 he spent three seasons with the U.S.
Forest Service working on the Spotted Owl Monitoring Program which ended in
1992. He completed his Master's Thesis in 1997 and was awarded his Master's
degree in August 1997. He has also marked timber and done archaeological
surveys for the U.S. Forest Service. He began teaching at Fresno State in
1992 as a teaching associate teaching life science, plant biology
and plant physiology laboratory. In 1997 he began teaching as a lecturer for
seven years at Fresno State from 1997-2004. In 1998 he began teaching
part-time at Reedley College teaching biology courses. In 2003 Mr. Spicci
went back to school to earn his single subject teaching credential in
Biological Sciences. He passed the California Subject Exams in Biology on his
first attempt with flying colors. In 2007 Mr. Spicci passed his competency
examinations in chemistry and also received a second single subject credential
in chemistry. Mr. Spicci continues to teach biology night classes at Reedley
College in addition to his teaching duties at El Diamante. He also teaches
summers at NAS Lemoore.
