Open Court/phonics review, blending, word knowledge, vocabulary, comprehension skills and strategies based on themes: Sharing Stories, Kindness, Fossils, Courage, and Our Country



Spelling:

Weekly Spelling: Open Court sequential spelling pattern lists (Regular List/Challenge List)


Math:

Chapter 1: Addition & Subtraction Review
                Fact families, adding and subtracting 1-digit numbers, doubles & near
                doubles, adding to ten, names for numbers, three addends, missing
                addends, touch math

Chapter 2: Adding 2-digit Numbers/With and Without Regrouping
                
Chapter 3: Subtracting 2-digit Numbers/With and Without Regrouping

Chapter 4: Money
                Identifying coins and their values, adding coins, comparing values, ways to
                show an amount, dollars and coins, adding and subtracting money, making
                change

Chapter 5:Time
               Time to hour, half hour, quarter hour, five minutes, elapsed time, reading
                schedules, and using a calendar

Chapter 6: Numbers to 1,000
                Number patterns, 100s/10s/1s, ways to show numbers, expanded form,
                standard form, value of a digit, ordering numbers, rounding numbers to
                the nearest hundred

Chapter 7: Measurement
                Standard and metric measurement of length, weight, capacity, and
                temperature

Chapter 9:  Geometry
                 Solid and plane shapes, slides/flips/turns, congruent figures, perimeter,
                 area, and symmetry

Chapter 10: Fractions
                  Fractions to 1/12, comparing fractions, equal fractions, fractions of a
                  group

Chapter 11: Multiplication
                  Modeling multiplication, circles and stars, arrays, multiplying across and
                  down, ways to multiply x2, x5, x10

Chapter 12: Division
                  Modeling division, division as sharing, division with remainders, practicing
                  division


Science:
    Young scientists learn through exploring, observing, and testing ideas. These
units use the Macmillan/McGraw Hill-California Science textbooks, Open Court stories, and teacher-made lessons to provide those experiences for children.
