Challenge Homework:
LANGUAGE ARTS
*Read a book about a game. Write a sentence about
the game.
*Make your own "Games" book with games you like to play.
*Cut out pictures of different things people use when they play games from
magazines, sort them and glue them on a poster.
*Type a sentence on the computer and illustrate it.
*Send a postcard to our school from places you visit. Our

*Read a book, write a sentence about your favorite part,and draw a picture to
go with it.
MATH
*Cut out pictures from magazines of objects you would like. Creat a value for
them in coins. Draw pictures of the coins you would need to pay for the item.
*Choose an amount of money you can show in coins. Write all the different
ways you can make that amount.
*Bring in money from a different country. Be sure to know which country the
money came from.
*Use pictures of clocks to show a schedule of your day.
*Design your own clock with moveable hands.
*Make a clock with moveable hands out of things you have at home.
*Make your own fact family poster.
*Make a pictograph of your family's favorite foods, animals, etc.
*Write your numbers to 100.
*Make your own addition or subtraction flashcards.
*Write your numbers to 100 counting by 2's, 5's, or 10's.
*Create a calendar for the month and be sure to write any important family
dates on it.
*Help an adult cook something in the kitchen using a recipe. Take a picture,
write about it, or draw a picture to share with the class.
*Write your own addition or subtraction number sentences.
SOCIAL STUDIES
*Read a book about a famous place in the United States of America.Write a
sentence about it and draw a picture.
*Find famous landmarks on the computer, print, label, adn glue them on a
poster.
*Draw a picture of a National Holiday and describe why it is important in 2
sentences.
*Read a book about the United States and write about it.
*Find out where your ancestors are from and print out a map on the computer
to share with us.
*Make a time-line of your life from birth to now. Include at least 5 major
events such as birthdays, vacations, first day of school, etc.
SCIENCE
*Cut out pictures from a magazine and sort them into types of matter.
*Draw a picture of a scene (park, pool, forest, store, etc.) and label the
different types of matter (solid, liquid, gas).
*Read a book about matter and draw a picture. Write one sentence
about something you learned.
*Use the computer to find different types of matter. Print them out and
create a poster with their names as labels.
*Use magazine cut-outs or pictures off the computer to make a poster of the
seasons.
*Graph your family's favorite type of weather.
*Use a thermometer, rain gauage, and wind vane to record the weather for a
day.
*Use a weather tool to graph the weather for a week.
