READING GOALS 2000!
We have read 675 pages or more to date! We are on our way to 2000 pages!
Reading Goals 2000 is a year long project. Our goal is to guide your child
down the track of reading enjoyment. This required outside additional
reading is different from our classroom curriculum reading.
Reading is so vital to the success of the child. There are similar reading
programs in each elementary grade at ECS. Students should read for at least
15-20 minutes and they should also aim at reading a minimum of 225 pages per
month.
Here are some key factors:
*Have your child read books of interest, not ones that frustrate.
*Listen to your child as they read to make sure that they are reading
properly.
*Please make sure your child is reading within their reading level.
If they are reading picture books...GREAT! If they are reading chapter
books...GREAT! Whatever the reading level...just read!
The monthly reading goal sheet is sent home at the beginning of each month
along with the 1st Grade monthly newsletter. You may obtain extra copies of
the monthly reading goal sheet from the website. The recorded logs are due
the beginning of the following month....please submit all recorded logs
together per month.
