Please check your child's homework log for the date and time of your
conference. I sent you a little reminder. :)
Second quarter is underway and the students are to write everything in
cursive, except for science and when instructed otherwise. Just thought you
would like to be in the know.
We have begun letter writing and therefore, your child should have brought
home a lavender colored paper on Thursday. The paper explains that Monday,
Nov. 9th, the students need to bring an envelope with a 44 cent stamp affixed
to it. In addition to that, they need their own address written on one side
of a piece of paper, and the name/address of the person to whom they are
writing a letter written on the other side. Please do not address the
envelope for your child as we are learning how to do this in class. Thanks.
Our class is collecting cans of chili for Interfaith Crisis Center. Also, we
are partnering with Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham's Organization) to
fill 2 shoeboxes (1 for a girl, 1 for a boy). If you have the means to send
in a new trinket to help fill our shoeboxes, that would be great. These are
our outreaches for this holiday season. Bless you for all you do and give.
Progress reports will not be sent home for the next two weeks. The next time
a weekly report will be sent home will be Nov. 16th. If you wish to check
your child's grades, you may use schoolmaestro.com.
A field trip is planned for Dec. 8th. The permission slip was sent home
on Monday, Nov. 2. Please sign and return it w/the money no later than
Monday, Nov. 30th. This will give the office the required time to verify
chaperone paperwork is all in order. Thank you.
A packet of papers was sent home on Thursday, Sept. 24th. The packet
contains a cover letter explaining the upcoming class Spelling Bee, as well
as the word lists. It is slated for Dec. 2nd, Wed. It is NOT mandatory that
your children study the word lists, but it is mandatory that they participate
in the in-class meet. Two winners from our class will go on to compete in the
school-wide Spelling bee on Dec. 4, Friday. Please note that parents are
welcome to attend the Dec. 4th school-wide meet, but due to nervousness, no
parents are permitted at the in-class meet. If you have any questions about
the Spelling Bee, please contact me.
Our school collects the following items to help raise funds for various
projects: used inkjets and laser cartridges, old cell phones, Major Market
receipts, Boxtops and Fresh and Easy receipts.
As of Oct. 26th, please add the table of SIXES to your multiplication
practice. Be practicing the 0-6 multiplication tables. Thank you parents
for helping your children memorize these.
The reading goal is 3,500 pages for third grade. For the week ending Nov.
13th, the students should have read approximately 1,100 pages to be on track
to meet the goal by OPEN HOUSE NIGHT. ALL READING LOGS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY
MAY 27TH. Thank you in advance for assisting your child in reaching this goal.
