Spelling
Practice our spelling words each week by going to Spelling City.com I've input all of our lists for your access. Just click on the banner below, choose "Students", then select "Find Your List" and type "Talbott" into the box. Then simply find our spelling list skill for the week and click on it for loads of spelling fun! The site offers spelling wordsearches, unscramble and "Hangmouse" games. Happy Spelling!
Your child will have a weekly spelling test. Depending on your child's pretest score, they will either study List A or List B words. Your child will bring home their pretest on Mondays. If your child misses more than 1 word on the list they will study List A. If only 1 word is misspelled, they will study List B for the week. I will post both lists for your reference in my weekly newsletters A spelling test will be given on Thursdays and will include the words on each list, including 2 or more additional words that follow the same spelling skill. Dictation sentences will also be part of the weekly test and will include weekly spelling pattern words. This allows assessment of several areas including application of the spelling rule, correct sentence punctuation, capitalization and listening skills. Dictation sentences will not be given out in advance for studying, as the purpose is to show application and not simply memorization.
Listed in the chart below are words your child should be able to read and spell before going into Grade 3. Please practice and review them throughout the year. **Davis School District has a wonderful E-Spelling Site with all the "No Excuse Spelling Words" 200 words have been identified that one should be able to spell correctly everytime you use them.
