August of 2010 brings the beginning Mrs. Wise's 19th year at Good Shepherd
Lutheran School. All but four of those years have been teaching first grade.
First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the
world of learning and Mrs. Wise is thrilled to travel this journey with her
students each year.
She hopes to make your child's first grade year a fun and exciting one while
nurturing a community of children who care about each other and love to learn.
Mrs. Wise was born in Long Beach, California. Her father was a pilot in the
USAF and her family moved every three to four years. When Mrs. Wise was in the
first grade she lived in Japan. She went to high school in Hawaii.
When not teaching she enjoys the Bay Area with her husband, walking, hiking,
wine tasting, coffee cupping, attending concerts, sporting events, enjoying
museums and reading. She has five adult children, two grandchildren, one dog
and two cats.
Mrs. Wise received her teaching credential and Masters in Education with an
emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction from Dominican University in 1992. She
completed the Educational Therapy Program at UC Berekley Extension in 2006 and
her Administrative Services Credential in 2010. She is working on a second
masters degree in Reading and Language along with a Reading Specialist
Credential.
Mrs. Wise loves teaching first grade and is passionate about helping children
become readers and writers. She hopes her students will love learning and
reading as much as she does.
