Why does my binder have to be 1.5 inches wide?

We like a tidy room, so your binder must fit in your desk. If your binder is wider, it won't fit in
your desk. If it is smaller, all of your papers won't fit inside.

DLR tests review basic grammar and punctuation skills. DLR is much like DOL of years past.
We will always start the new week of DLR on Thursdays. We will complete one day of DLR exercises

the sentences we've practiced over the week as well as two of the other practice exercises from

Mrs. B. or Mrs. Knight will let your child know that you will be receiving a "Homework Hotline."
Parents will receive a "Homework Hotline" through email so they can know that your child have
an assignment missing. Each day's work will count as one missing assignment.
If you receive four "Homework Hotlines" in a calendar month, you will receive an academic detention.
Parents, please make sure to reply to the "Homework Hotline" to let your child's teacher know of the

How do you grade for spelling?

If the word is on the paper or easily accessible, ex. copying off
the board, and is misspelled, one percentage point will be taken
off your grade. There are exceptions to this rule. If you are
taking a spelling test and the word is misspelled, the whole word
is marked wrong. If the word is not on the paper and you are not
expected to know the exact spelling, it will not be marked
wrong. If you misspell an "easy" word (the, that, this, I , me,
etc.) you will have one percentage point taken off your grade.
If you do not capitalize a word that should be capitalized (a
name, the word I, the beginning of the sentence,) you will also
get a percentage point taken off or the same if you capitalize a
lower case word that shouldn't be capitalized. Questions about
spelling? Ask Mrs. B.
