What is the best way to contact the sixth grade teachers?

Sending an email is the best way to contact us. We check our email regularly.
We cannot return your calls from the classroom because the phones do not allow
us to make outgoing calls.

Can I make telephone calls directly into the classroom?

Please avoid making phone calls directly into the classroom unless it is an
emergency. In class calls interrupt instructional time.

What should I do if my child forgets his/her lunch?

The first time a lunch is forgotten at home we will allow a
telephone call home. Otherwise, the hot lunch staff provides the student with
an emergency lunch for a minimal cost. You may also drop off a lunch in the
school office. They will ensure your child receives the lunch.

How can I keep track of my child's progress?

Gradelink is a great way to follow your child's progress. Also, a Special
Delivery envelope is sent home every Friday. It will contain important school
information, including your child's weekly homework/behavior report. I
encourage parents to keep the reports to track if the student has any
missing/late assignments or behavior reports. A yellow half-sheet means the
student has no missing/late assignments for the four-week period and fewer
than 2 warnings for the same time period! Way to go!

How did my child earn after school detention?

Any student who has four or more missing/late/incomplete assignments during a
four week
period will be assigned an academic after school detention. Behavior
detention is assigned to students who receive eight or more warnings during a
one-week period (Thursday - Wednesday).

GRABBERS are given to reward positive behavior or academic excellence. There
are many ways to receive GRABBERS, which can be used for a homework pass or to
purchase something at a class auction, just to name a couple of examples.

What is a warning?

Positive behavior is encouraged and rewarded. A student who disrupts the
classroom in any way causes interruptions of instructional time. The result is
a recorded warning for the student. Eight warnings in a one-week
period(Thursday - Wednesday), will result in a behavior detention.
