Special Me
Building confidence and self-esteem is vital to each child's
well being. We consider all our students to be "stars" at all times, but we
will be showcasing one child for an entire week. Each day he/she will bring an
item to share with the other students. These items are designated below.
Monday - The student is introduced
in class as the Star of the Week and will receive a special item.
Tuesday - The story dictated or
written by your child about a favorite time, is read to the class.
Wednesday - Student shares with
the class, a picture drawn and colored of his/her family.
Thursday - The child shares a map
showing how he/she gets to school from home (does not need to be detailed -
adult help is necessary).
Friday - Student shares the
"Special Me" folder and brings in items for "estimation jar". Estimation jar
should contain non-edible items and should be limited to forty items or fewer.
Don't let your child count the objects or he/she will not be able to
participate in the estimating. Your items will be be returned to you unless
otherwise notified.
The teacher has the "Special Me" folder, the
estimation jar and all the other pages needed for the week. The folder and
Star of the Week pages will be sent home about two weeks before your child's
special week begins.
