Can my child bring a snack for recess?

Yes. A kindergartener needs a healthy snack to get him/her through the
day. 12:30 is long time to go without eating anything. If your child
forgets his/her snack at home, just drop it off at the office. I will
try to have some extra juice and crackers in the class room just in case.

Can I bring treats for my child's birthday?

No. We have many kindergarteners with severe food allergies this year.
All of kindergarten classes have decided to eliminate the birthday cupcakes, brownies
etc. A child may bring in something special to share instead. Please no pets.

What if my child forgets his/her homework?

Everyone forgets once in a while, so just bring homework as soon as possible. We only become concerned when the homework forgetting becomes a habit. We are trying to
instill in your child the importance of being independent and of being
responsible for one's self.

How do I know if a book is at an appropriate level for my child?

As a quick test, have your child read one page aloud to you. If your child
makes three or more mistakes, the book is at his/her frustration level, and an
easier book should be chosen. However, maybe you can read this book together.

Can a sibling go on a field trip?

No. As a parent chaperone you are responsible for the safety of those
students assigned to you. Siblings can be a distraction and this can interfere
with the learning environment of the field trip.
