Can my child bring a snack for recess?

No. First graders do not have snack recess because we eat lunch
at 11:30. We encourage our first graders to eat a big, healthy
breakfast and a good lunch to hold them over until dismissal.

Can I bring treats for my child's birthday?

No. Because of the growing number of food allergies first grade
has gone birthday treat "free." Instead of bringing a snack your
child may bring in a special sharing; a favorite toy, trophy etc.

What if my child forgets their homework?

Everyone forgets once in a while, so the first time they forget I
will remind them to bring it in the following Monday. We are
trying to instill the importance of your child being independent
and encourage them to return his/her homework on their own.

How do I know if a book is at an appropriate level for my child?

A quick test would be to have your child read aloud one page. If
your child makes three or more mistakes, the book is at their
frustration level, and an easier book should be chosen. However,
this would be an excellent book for you to read to your child.

What if my child forgets his/her lunch?

We suggest that you always keep at least five dollars on your
child's card in case of emergency. If they do not have money on
their card, they are only given a cheese sandwhich and a milk.
